Cultural
Cultural Activities are a specific extension of the language curriculum where children begin to acquire a sense of historical fact, classification of physical geography and an appreciation of cultural differences.
Practical Life
Practical Life is the study of self-help skills and focuses on the four major areas, Care of Self, Care of Environment, Grace and Courtesy, and Movement.
Sensorial
Sensorial uses a multi-sensory approach to education. Children are encouraged to learn by processing information gathered through the senses.
Math
Math continues the cognitive math development that began in the Practical Life Skills and Sensorial curriculum, taking an acute focus and more abstract thinking process with concrete materials.

The Essentials

Language & Early Literacy
Our Language Lessons are incorporated into all curriculum areas to assist with vocabulary development, progression into reading, spelling , development of writing skills and composition. Language starts with individual letter sounds. Sandpaper Letters provide children with a multisensory experience that helps them imprint the letter shapes into their memory.

Parent Testimonials
Yall this is such an amazing place! My son started coming when he was 18 months old and this will sadly be his last year. I have always felt comfortable sending my kids here and love that it’s structured similar to school. My son has learned so much and you always get a folder full of activities they have completed. I highly recommend SHDS to anyone looking for a school where your child will learn and grow as an individual!!
Both of my kids either currently attend or have attended SHDS. My youngest is entering her third school year and I have seen so much growth in her – social skills and academic – since she started at SHDS. Each year, her teachers have been wonderful and it is a great balance of curriculum and fun. My oldest is an entering first grader and went to SHDS for her pre-k year. Our only regret is not finding this school sooner – she learned so much in her one year at SHDS, had a great foundation for kindergarten, and is thriving and I give so much credit to her time at SHDS.

The staff is caring, organized, nurturing, professional, and truly care about the kids. The directors do an excellent job, take pride in the school and what they do, and it’s a very well run preschool. Our family cannot recommend SHDS enough.
